BAPP Minutes 1/12/06

President, Tarika Newkirk, called the officer meeting to order on January 12th, 2006. She first announced that our first scheduled meeting on January 23rd would be cancelled due to telefund. Our first order of business was to figure out the work schedule for the Activities Carnival on Tuesday January 17th, 2006, which will be held in the K-State Student Union from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We also decided we would buy some candy for the event.

Colby Murphy, BAPP Advisor, suggested that we set up a Recruitment Position who would be in charge of recruiting more students to join BAPP Club. He thought we could have one of the officers take on the position or could have another member take on the responsibility. The officers decided to wait until our first meeting and see if a member would be interested in taking on this position.

Next we discussed what we wanted to have on the agenda for each meeting throughout the year. For our first meeting on February 6th we decided to have a Welcome and Introduction for all old and new members, and then have a speaker from Management Information Systems (MIS) come and talk to the club. For the second meeting on February 20th we will have someone from Career and Employment Services speak to the club about creating résumés. On March 6th someone from Leadership Studies will speak to the club and on March 27th a representative from Study Abroad will come talk to us. Colby recommended that we ask a few business students who have studied abroad come and speak about their experiences. For our April 10th meeting we will have students in the business program who have completed internships come and speak, and for our final meeting on April 24th we will have our End of Semester party.

President Tarika Newkirk also thought it was a good idea to send out an email to all of the freshman in the business program, letting them know a little about what BAPP Club is and what we have to offer in BAPP Club. We also decided to have our semester schedule attached to the email.

Tarika then announced that our first meeting will be Monday, February 6th. She announced that all regular meetings will be held in Calvin 209 at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise stated. All officer meetings will take place in Calvin 308. Meeting was then adjourned.
